The rigorous approach reflected in the in-depth final report by the Chemistry Innovation Steering Group is welcomed by the Flemish Council for Science and Innovation (VRWI). The report clearly identifies the global developments in the chemical industry and the challenges facing the Flemish chemical industry.
The Council fully supports the Steering Group's analyses and recommendations, particularly the seven-point strategy for adopting a new approach to a sustainable transition strategy. The VRWI regards the strategic plan as a point of reference for the sector itself. In this context, companies can refer to a 'triple helix' model in their endeavour to join forces with knowledge-based institutions and the administration to play a proactive role in developing a sustainable chemical sector.
The VRWI strongly urges the Flemish Government to do its utmost to reflect the recommendations made in any initiatives and measures for the chemical sector.
