Within the Flemish Parliament an ad hoc Committee on Higher Education was established on February 24 under the chairmanship of Mrs. Fientje Moerman. This committee aims to draw up a policy document on the future of higher education in Flanders.
With a view to this the Commission will organize the coming weeks and months a number of hearings with stakeholders and experts from home and abroad. At the first hearing on Wednesday, March 24 Mr Dirk Van Damme explained his summary note about the future of the college academic courses in the Flemish higher education landscape.
The VRWI was asked to participate in the work of this committee. At the hearing today, the VRWI gave his view on this issue, from the 'research perspective'. Then they exchanged ideas with the committee.
The VRWI-view is written down in advisory report 135 that was approved by the Council at its meeting on April 22, 2010 and is sent to ministers Smet, Lieten and Peeters.
