At the proposal of Minister Lieten the Flemish Government today approved the new composition.
The decree of April 30, 2010 on the organization and financing of science and innovation policy aims at the foundation of the Advisory Council "Flemish Council for Science and Innovation". The decree entered in force on January 1, 2010 making it possible to define the composition.
The decree sets out clear guidelines for the composition of the VRWI. The VRWI consists of a president and 19 members, appointed by the Flemish government. Both the president and the members must be familiar with science and innovation. And there should also be a balance between experts in the cultural and behavioral sciences, the applied, exact and biomedical sciences. The VRWI thus has a wide membership of both eminent scientists, and innovation actors and representatives of the socio-economic world.
