The Flemish Council for Science and Innovation kicked off the new year with a big new year’s reception at Theatre Toots. You can here take a look at the photos.
VRWI approves a report by Idea Consult consisting of an inventory of the social trends on the one hand and scientific, technological and innovation trends on the other. These trends were then linked to each other, resulting in five transition areas.
The amendment to the Flemish Parliament Act will change the VRWI's composition. From now on, the six members who are appointed from a group of twelve members, which are jointly nominated by the associations, will have to include at least one representative of the Flemish colleges of higher education.
During 2012-2013 the Flemish Council for Science and Innovation performs an update of its former foresight study with a time horizon to 2025. This study aims at detecting scientific, technological and innovation priorities to solve the grand societal challenges.

The VRWI welcomed many attendees at his New Year's reception. President Dirk Boogmans looked back on 2011, the year when the VRWI reached full speed. Both in terms of output, as well as -more importantly- its impact on policy. And he assured that the VRWI will continue at the same way.
